Our Story

We're Clara and Maeve. Two sisters, one studio, and a stubborn belief that beautiful things take time.

Kiln & Tide sits on a quiet strip of coast in Downeast Maine, in a converted boathouse where the wood stove never quite goes out. We throw each piece on a wheel we inherited from our grandmother — a woman who believed clay remembers the hands that shape it.

Our glazes are mixed by hand, tested in small batches, and named after the places they remind us of: Salt Marsh, Fog Bank, Low Tide. Every bowl, vase, and mug is fired in our tiny gas kiln, then cooled overnight while the tide goes in and out just past the window.

We make small batches because that's what this space allows. And because it means every piece that leaves our studio was made with intention, not ambition.
